About This Garage Door Install
In Shalford, just outside Guildford, we installed two Hormann LPU 42 M-Ribbed sectional doors in the Golden Oak Decograin finish. Both doors were fitted behind the openings with 55mm matching cover profiles, giving the home a warm, timber-look finish with the strength and reliability of steel.
Inside the garage, a chimney breast protruded into the space on one side. Sectional doors are ideal for situations like this because they can be purpose-made or cut to size without compromising performance. One door was supplied at a standard 7’0” x 7’0”, while the second was reduced in width at the Hormann factory so the track could run neatly alongside the chimney. This ensured everything fitted perfectly without restricting access.
Thanks to the matching cover profiles, the difference in door width is barely noticeable once installed, retaining a balanced, tidy look across the front of the property. Both doors were finished with Hormann Supramatic electric operators, giving the customer four handsets and easy app control through built-in Bluetooth.
The Result
Both doors settled in really well and gave the front of the property a much warmer, more natural look thanks to the Golden Oak finish. The adjusted width on the one door worked exactly as planned, and the tracks now run neatly alongside the chimney without getting in the way.
Day-to-day use is much easier for the homeowner too. The Supramatic operators open and close the doors smoothly, and the app control has already become their preferred way to use the garage. The whole setup looks tidy, works reliably, and fits the space just as it should.
