About This Garage Door Install
For this property in Reading, we installed a Hormann LPU 42 M-Ribbed Silkgrain sectional door in RAL 5005 Steel Blue. The customer wanted the new door to tie in neatly with the home’s existing features, so we fitted it behind the opening and framed it with a white surround to match the front door.
One of the advantages of Hormann sectional doors is their flexibility when it comes to finishes. The frame cover profiles can be supplied in a different colour to the door itself, which made it easy to create a clean contrast between the Steel Blue panels and the white frame.
Inside the garage, the lintel sat lower than the brick opening, so we used 125mm white uPVC across the top to complete the frame and keep everything tidy and consistent.
This customer preferred a manual door rather than an electric operator. The LPU 42 door works well this way thanks to its lighter, balanced movement. There are several handle styles and colours available, and they can be positioned centrally or to either side, depending on what suits the homeowner best.
The Result
The new door has given the property a completely refreshed look. The Steel Blue finish stands out well, and the white framing ties everything together with the front entrance. The door sits neatly in the opening, runs smoothly by hand, and offers the insulation the customer wanted without needing electric operation.
