About This Garage Door Install
For this property in the Woking area, we installed a Hormann LPU 42 M-Ribbed Woodgrain sectional door in White—a choice the customer was really pleased with. The original garage opening measured 7’9” x 7’0”, but because a waste pipe ran through the inside of the garage, we needed to reduce the door width to 7’6” to ensure a perfect, hassle-free fit.
The structural lintel on this garage sat further back than the brickwork, so we installed timber liners to bring the fixing point forward. This allowed us to fit the door flush while giving the homeowner maximum headroom—a key benefit with sectional doors. We then finished the opening with 150mm white uPVC around the brickwork and 200mm uPVC to cover the exposed lintel, creating a neat, clean look across the whole entrance.
As requested, the door was supplied in manual operation with a standard black handle. Sectional doors work extremely well manually because the springs counterbalance the door, making it light and easy to lift while staying neutrally weighted.
The Hormann LPU 42 design also includes thermal insulation, helping keep warmth inside the home and reducing cold transfer—particularly useful for this property, where there’s a bedroom above the garage. Alongside the performance benefits, the new door gives the home a modern, updated appearance.
